When deciding on the direction I wished to take my festival poster design for this project, I reflected on the current state of the world. With multiple cities/countries in lockdown after battling a worldwide pandemic, so many people feel a loss of freedom. A feeling of unknown for what the future will bring in this climate has also been an ongoing issue for the younger generations. The festival I have created is one that offers its guests a chance to hope, dream, escape, and to celebrate a future where your fantasies have every possibility of becoming a reality. Inspired by the Polish Poster design movement, I used elements of colour and style to design a festival poster that offered a sense of fun, fantasy, and escapism. Bold imagery blended with a bright palette of vibrant colours at the forefront of a painterly blue sky, further enhances a sense of individuality and allows the viewer to feel welcomed with a sense of harmony and belonging. The heading font was chosen for its disco vibes, and in keeping with standard principles of design, I have chosen a clear and concise font for the body throughout the poster. The composition of negative space offered by the sky was chosen to give further focus to the dystopian world image that centres the poster.
